Hyundai Concept THREE Unveiled At IAA, Production Model To Launch Soon
Hyundai has unveiled the Concept THREE at IAA. It draws inspiration from the brand’s heritage-inspired design experiments. Hyundai showcases its vision for the future of electric vehicles through the car’s sleek and futuristic exterior design with sharp lines and a bold front grille.
It previews the brand’s upcoming hatchback EV, set to rival the Volkswagen ID.3. After its debut, the production version is expected to follow soon, with prototypes already undergoing tests in disguise.
Styling
The design clearly leads with aerodynamics, featuring a flowing roofline and sloping tail that smooths airflow over the rear. Hyundai’s pixelated light signatures gain new 3D brightness gradients, while a ducktail spoiler ensures clean separation. The brand highlights Hyundai’s unusual vertical integration by describing its new form language as the “art of steel,” including in-house production of advanced steels for bold, deeply pressed body panels.
Interior
The interior of the concept rejects screen overload in favour of subtle “briquettes” of information. The cabin feels minimal and calming, avoiding dominating displays while maintaining clarity. It’s distinctively Korean, pushing Hyundai’s confident design journey further from its competitors.
Charging Information
In contrast to the Veloster, the Concept Three adheres to a conventional five-door format. Hyundai-Kia’s advanced 800V architecture positions it to promise long range and ultra-fast charging. This positions it squarely as a mainstream EV contender, balancing practicality with technology.
Production Version
The production models will dial back the wildest ideas but still advance their human-machine interface. A new OS, developed with big-name consumer app partners, underpins the infotainment and “Pleos” connectivity system, integrating core vehicle functions. Hyundai also plans to maintain its Europe-built share, ensuring around 80% of EVs sold there are produced locally.
Expected Pricing
Notably, pricing remains unclear at present. The brand could position the hatchback lower than the IONIQ 2, if costs come down, or higher as the IONIQ 4, if not. However, it won’t be affordable as that role will be fulfilled by the Hyundai Inster.
