Rolls-Royce Cullinan Cosmos Unveiled, Features A Handpainted Starlight Headliner
Rolls-Royce has unveiled the Cullinan Cosmos, a one-of-one creation celebrating the beauty and mystery of outer space. Commissioned by a family inspired by the universe and their young son, it embodies a celestial theme. At its core is a Rolls-Royce first – a hand-painted Starlight Headliner crafted over 160 hours.
Headliner
Shimmering Arabescato Pearl finishes the Cullinan Cosmos, recalling the soft glow of moonlight over a midnight sky. Enhancing the exterior is a twin coachline in Charles Blue, applied entirely by hand. An Illuminated Spirit of Ecstasy completes the look, glowing like a distant star after nightfall.
Interior
Inside, the Cullinan Cosmos offers a calm, meditative space inspired by the stillness of deep space. The reclining seats are upholstered in Charles Blue and Grace White leather, with matching contrast stitching and piping. Piano White veneers add a crisp edge, reminiscent of high-gloss satellite casings.
Rolls-Royce designers worked with the commissioning family to develop a unique Star Cluster motif. This appears as embroidery on door panels and headrests. A hand-painted artwork on the passenger fascia further enhances the cosmic theme.
The highlight of the Cosmos is its fully hand-painted Starlight Headliner. It depicts an ethereal interpretation of the Milky Way, colour-graded to match the interior. The application of more than 20 layers of acrylic paint created luminous cloud formations and depth.
To achieve delicate mist effects, the artist used an unconventional tool, i.e. a makeup brush. Fine, pointed brushes created shimmering painted stars, enhanced by speckling techniques. The artisans hand-punched fibre-optic perforations, perfectly aligning them with the contours of the painting.
