Citroen Aircross X will get an updated features list in a similar fashion to the recently introduced C3 X and Basalt X in India
Citroen India has finally dropped the first teaser of the Aircross X confirming that the SUV is inching closer to launch. Bookings are now underway with an initial token amount set at Rs. 11,000. It follows the arrival of the C3 X and Basalt X in the domestic market in recent weeks. As you might expect, the Aircross X will receive a host of enhancements.
The teaser gives a sneak peek at cruise control and revised seat upholstery while additional kit is expected to include ventilated seats for the driver and front passenger, wireless smartphone charging facility, push-button engine start, auto-dimming IRVM, wireless phone mirroring and perhaps a 360-degree camera on the higher trims as an option for Rs. 25K.
On the top-spec models, Citroën could also integrate its Cara smart AI assistant as most of the features will replicate the updates found in the C3 X and Basalt X. Considering that the French auto major already offers safety equipment such as six airbags, anti-lock brakes with EBD, Electronic Stability Program (ESP) as a standard fitment, we do not expect any major inclusions.
Safety-wise, the company already covers the essentials with six airbags, ABS with EBD, and ESP offered as standard across the Aircross family. Under the hood, no major mechanical changes are expected. The brand will continue to offer the familiar 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol and 1.2-litre turbo petrol engines with the latter reserved for the Aircross X trims.
The turbo unit churns out a maximum power output of 110 bhp and 190 Nm of peak torque with a six-speed manual transmission while the six-speed automatic variant bumps torque up to 205 Nm. Citroën will more likely reserve the X badge for the top-spec trims of the Aircross. Citroen is in the middle of its biggest product and retail expansion since entering the market.
Alongside updated variants, Citroën has plans to more than double its reach across India by the end of this FY. Adding to that momentum, the brand is also readying CNG-compatible versions of both the C3 and the Aircross to hep appeal to a wide band of consumers.
