The reduced prices of ICE models in the MG portfolio will be applicable on all the bookings made on and after Sep 7, 2025
MG Motor India has slashed the price of its ICE model range in the country due to the announcement of GST 2.0 by the Govt. The company has claimed that it has passed on 100 percent benefits of the lower GST to its buyers across the country and it will be applicable on all the bookings made by Sep 7, 2025. The British brand presently retails three SUV models in the Indian market namely Astor, Hector and Gloster. There is no change in the pricing of EVs as the government has kept the GST on these models at 5 percent.
“The government’s decision to rationalise GST is a good move that directly addresses the affordability challenge for car buyers and builds positive consumer sentiment. By extending the full benefit of this reform across our SUV portfolio, we want to ensure customers experience the immediate value of this change,” – shared, Vinay Raina, Chief Commercial Officer, JSW MG Motor India.
The Astor is the brand’s entry-level offering in the Indian market and with the reduction in GST, it will now be cheaper by Rs 54,000. Earlier, the SUV attracted 45 percent GST but with the revised structure, it has been placed in the 40 percent tax category. As for the Hector, it will witness a reduction of up to Rs 1.49 lakh as both the petrol and diesel versions, which were under 45 percent and 50 percent categories, respectively, have been put in the 40 percent slab.

Last but not the least, the Gloster flagship SUV has undergone a price cut of Rs 3.04 lakh. Earlier, the SUV was taxed at 50 percent as it was kept in the sin and luxury goods slab, but now since the government has abolished the 50 percent slab and the maximum capping is 40 percent, the company has decided to slash the pricing and give the benefit directly to the buyers.
“At a time when demand is set to strengthen, especially around the festive season, our focus is on making our SUVs — Astor, Hector, and Gloster — more accessible and attractive. More than just passing on the benefits, this move reinforces trust, enables easier ownership, and encourages more customers to embrace MG,” added Raina.

In fact, the luxury auto brands such as Mercedes-Benz and Audi have also announced a heavy cut in price of their models.
