Jeep Meridian Facelift Launched In Brazil, Features Minor Changes
Jeep has revealed the facelifted version of its seven-seater SUV for the Brazilian market, called the 2026 Commander. This hints at what could arrive in the Indian market, as the dimensions are similar to the Jeep Meridian sold in the country. In order to keep it competitive, the SUV now features sharper styling and refreshed detailing.
Styling
The design updates include thicker headlamps, a revised seven-slat grille, and LED DRLs repositioned within the bumper. The front bumper and fog-lamp cluster have also been reworked for a fresher look. Connected tail-lamps and dual exhaust outlets are gained on higher trims, while new alloy wheel options round off the exterior updates.
Interior
The interior features notable changes in the familiar cabin layout. The five-seat configuration has been discontinued in Brazil, leaving only the seven-seater option. Upholstery revisions and a new rotary gear selector on top variants mark the key updates.
Engine Options
Under the bonnet, the 2026 Commander carries forward its trio of powertrains. The lineup includes a 1.3-litre turbocharged flex-fuel engine with front-wheel drive and a six-speed automatic gearbox. Additionally, a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and a 2.2-litre diesel option are available, both paired with all-wheel drive and a nine-speed automatic transmission.
Features
The previous version continues unchanged with features like the Level 2 ADAS system and a 360-degree camera. This ensures the Commander retains its premium positioning in the segment. Overall, Jeep has focused on an evolution with the Commander.
Outlook
In comparison, India’s Jeep Meridian saw a mild refresh last year, including the addition of a five-seater variant and a Trail Edition. The Commander facelift in Brazil helps to indicate that the Meridian sold in India shall receive subtle updates. We expect that the Jeep Meridian’s facelift will retain the core strengths with minor improvements.
