Tata Altroz has gained 5 stars with scores of 29.65 out of 32 in adult occupant protection and 44.90 out of 49 in child occupant protection tests

Tata Motors’ Altroz has once again made headlines – this time for its outstanding performance in the latest Bharat NCAP crash tests. The premium hatchback received a facelift recently and it has now secured 29.65 points out of a maximum 32 in adult occupant protection and 44.90 points out of 49 in child occupant protection tests – placing it among the safest mass-market models available in India.

In the adult protection category, the Altroz scored 15.55 out of 16 in the frontal offset deformable barrier assessment and 14.11 out of 16 in the side impact movable barrier test. The five-seater also cleared the side pole impact evaluation with a stable structure and acceptable readings – indicating Tata’s continued focus on cabin integrity and restraint systems.

The child safety section was equally impressive. Using ISOFIX-mounted Joie i-Spin Safe i-SIZE restraints for both 18-month-old and 3-year-old dummies, the hatchback achieved almost perfect scores: 23.90 out of 24 in dynamic testing, 12 out of 12 in CRS installation and 9 out of 13 in vehicle assessment. Both rearward-facing configurations performed well in frontal and side crash scenarios adding up to its safety credentials.

In the Altroz, the standard equipment includes dual front airbags, side airbags and curtain airbags for both driver and passenger – totally six. Seatbelt pre-tensioners and load limiters are fitted on the driver’s side while electronic stability control, pedestrian protection technology and seatbelt reminders are standard across the lineup.

The Altroz also provides manual airbag deactivation for the front passenger seat to allow safe installation of child restraints. The tested models included the Pure CNG MT, CRTV S CNG MT and Accomplished S DMT variants with the crash test prototype’s weight rated at 1,474 kg. Bharat NCAP has confirmed that the safety ratings are valid across multiple trims and fuel options including petrol, diesel and CNG as listed.

The Altroz’s safety credentials rival those of larger cars as Tata’s consistent approach of making electronic safety assists and multiple airbags standard have helped it build a reputation as one of the leaders in terms of safety.
