Mercedes-Benz GLC EV boasts a claimed driving range of 713 km between charges on the GLC 400 4MATIC trim

The GLC has long been Mercedes-Benz’s global bestseller and now it is preparing to enter its next chapter in electric form. Set to arrive in the US from late 2026, the all-new GLC with EQ Technology is the maiden arrival of a new electric-first family. Mercedes says development was shaped heavily by customer feedback while keeping the familiar GLC appeal.

The electric GLC is underpinned by a dedicated EV architecture and it boasts a claimed driving range of 713 km between charges on the GLC 400 4MATIC trim. The flagship version also delivers 483 hp and can tow up to 2,400 kg. Despite the transformation to electrification, space has only grown with extra legroom and headroom compared to its ICE sibling plus a roomy trunk and a small front storage compartment.

Stepping on the inside, the German luxury automaker has gone big on digital and design. The optional 39.1-inch MBUX touchscreen dominates the cabin with new AI-driven MB OS software. The system controls infotainment and driver assistance features while also being capable of learning driver habits and adapts over time.

Cloud connectivity ensures over-the-air updates and technology extends beyond screens. The GLC gets up to ten cameras, five radar units and a dozen ultrasonic sensors powering advanced assistance features. The brand’s “transparent hood” function aids off-road visibility while trailer manoeuvring assist simplifies towing. Adaptive air suspension and 4.5-degree rear-axle steering, both optional, look to combine ride comfort with agility.

The SUV doesn’t stray far from the GLC formula but introduces a few firsts in terms of design. A reworked chrome grille, illuminated for effect, headlines the look and is supported by prominent shoulder lines and sculpted arches. Inside, Sensual Purity styling meets new material choices which include a fully vegan-certified interior option – a global first for any carmaker.

The optional Sky Control panoramic roof with 162 illuminated stars built into the glass for nighttime journeys is another highlight. The GLC integrates station reservations into its MB Charge service at Mercedes’ hubs – making the process smoother for long trips. It is a small but practical initiative looking to easing one of the biggest concerns for new EV buyers.

We do expect it to launch in India in the near future considering that the brand is known for bringing its global models to the local market sooner rather than later. Thus, we might look forward to its arrival next year but no official confirmation has been made yet.
